Being a florist at this time of year is always immense. However for us it is usually quite calm. Being a florist that only works on wedding and events means we don’t have that big rush at Valentines day. But I do remember my many years of working in a shop when Valentines was always extremely busy. I remember always being impressed by the sheer volume of Grand Prix and Passion roses that we got in and then of course we had the lovely job of prepping them all!

Roses are always the signature flower to buy for valentines, but with their wholesale price rising around the 14th, the sale price has to go up too. If you are a bit strap for cash this year why no dazzle your loved one with a bunch of red tulips instead. These striking flowers will make that red statement without blowing the budget.

Personally I am not a huge fan of red, so for those of us that aren’t keen on signature colour there are many beautiful white roses and soft pink roses which will convey that element of romance, without going down the red route. Ask your florist for pale pink Sweet Avalanche roses, or stunning white Akito roses mixed in with seasonal flowers and foliages.

Whatever you are getting up to this Valentines Day we hope it is filled with romance and of course spectacular flowers!
